SUFS Lab

The SUFS Lab is the research arm of the Stand Up for Science Foundation. We study the intersection of science, policy, and the people – and how to turn real evidence into meaningful action.

We review critical peer-reviewed research related to federal policy initiatives and communicate key findings to the public in clear, accessible language. Integrating scientific insight into policy conversations – and helping the public understand what is at stake – is central to the work we do. In addition, we study cognition and political behavior as it relates to instantiating civic engagement. Specifically, our research explores how different messages and communication strategies resonate across distinct populations, and which approaches are most effective at motivating public action on key issues related to science.

Our goal is not to simply identify the problems – but to assist in helping solve them. By combining direct empirical research with public engagement and policy communication, the SUFS Lab works to equip policymakers, journalists, scientific communities, and the public with the evidence they need to defend American science and advance the wellness of the American people.
